Free Will

Free will is one of our most important gifts. Free will is what keeps existence interesting and keeps us from being alone.

One great delusion in our current stage of human development is that freewill governs most of our behavior. The assumption is that we make choices based on our values and logic mixed with some input from our feelings and intuitions. In short, free will controls what we do.

Unfortunately this is far from true. Most of our behavior is determined by impulse, habit, stimulus response chains, or instinct and has NOTHING to do with free will.

If someone loses their temper and smashes a glass on the floor, some will say that they chose that to assert power or control with the witnesses of the act.

Others will say that smashing glasses is a good or acceptable act. If I ‘lost my temper’ it means that smashing the glass was not a choice at all!

Impulse control increases my responsibility, and directly affects by my ability to use free will. We are continually learning to keep and manage our free will, and get along with other people.

How do we measure a good interaction?

I am an artist, I have the ability and free will to
choose the way the
world envisions me.
